Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Posted by on 01 February 2011

So, as you might have guessed, since I wrote about the first two Twilight movies, I’m going to write about the third one. :)

I really, really wanted to go to the midnight showing of Eclipse. But I was in Germany to visit family. But, as soon as I got home, I saw it with my friend and her sister.

I loved it!! I think each movie got better and better. Eclipse had a lot more action in it, with the big fight scene fighting over Bella’s life. The special effects were pretty cool, when the vampires had limbs broken off, it looked like shattered glass. (Because of course, vampires don’t have blood, they drink it)

My favorite scene would have to be during the fight, when Bella, Edward, and Jacob were camping. In the book, it’s chapter 22, and I always went back to that chapter and re-read it. It makes me laugh :)

I can’t wait for Breaking Dawn! I’m kind of bummed that they’re splitting it into 2 parts because I know there’s going to be a big cliffhanger in between. But I’m kinda excited to see what Reneesme is going to look like.

My question for you: if you’re a girl, what “team” are you on? I’m team Jasper and/or Emmett. If you’re a guy, did the fighting in this movie satisfy you?

Dun. Dun. DUN!

To Write Love on Her Arms

Posted by on 06 December 2009

To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) is a charity that helps people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. Anyone can get help through their resources or you can attend one of the events.

I found out about this organization through the Rolling Stone magazine. In the article, they talked about founder Jamie Tworkowski and how he started the non-profit. It started one day when Jamie and a friend went to help a drug-addicted teen who was threatening to kill herself. He wanted to find a way “to write love on her arms” instead of her cutting her arms. She is still alive today because of Jamie. And there you go. Now, the organization helps teens by responding to messages sent to them, offering hugs, and just lending a shoulder to cry on.

The article was really heart-wrenching. Jamie has comforted teens whose moms tell them they wish they would’ve had them aborted, girls raped by their fathers, 11-year-olds who wish they were dead, abuse stories, and many others. I feel like I want to give all these teens a hug, which is exactly what Jamie does. He tells them that they are not alone, there’s hope.

If you would like to donate to TWLOHA, you can buy apparel from their store, make a direct payment through PayPal, or go to their SocialVibe page, and watch some advertisement. I know this sounds weird, but for every ad you watch, TWLOHA gets paid. This is a great way to donate to them if you don’t have any cash.

Twilight Saga: New Moon Movie

Posted by on 28 November 2009

So, I saw New Moon at it’s midnight opening and I have to say, I LOVED IT!!! I went with some of my friends and it was packed! My theater had like, 4 theaters dedicated to that movie and they were all sold out! My friend’s dad got in line in 11am, so we got good seats. There were actually people there before him! A couple hours before the movie started, it was crazy! People were cutting, there was security, and the lines were super douper long!

It was a lot better then Twilight, but if you haven’t read the books, it’s probably a little confusing. You probably wouldn’t get all the little details. The acting could have been better, but it was better then in Twilight.

So basically, Edward feels like he is really endangering Bella being in a relationship with her, so him and his vampire family decide to leave town. Bella gets depressed even though she has hunky werewolf friend, Jacob, to keep her company. Bella realizes that whenever she does something dangerous, she see Edward as a ghost telling her not to. You’ll have to read the book or watch the movie to see what happens. :)

Here’s a couple different previews:

Rachelle Lefevre will ALWAYS be Victoria (Twilight Saga)

Posted by on 08 August 2009

If you have been keeping up with the Twilight Saga movie news, you probably already know that Summit Entertainment won’t let Rachelle Lefevre play Victoria in Eclipse, the third book in the series, because she is overbooked for 10 days and the shooting for Eclipse is a 3-month period.

I think Summit can afford to make a slight schedule change to keep Rachelle because she is awesome as Victoria and now since everyone knows Rachelle as Victoria, her character played by someone else will never be the same.

If you want to sign an online petition to keep Rachelle in Eclipse, go to tinypetition.com.

OMG!!! I saw Adam Lambert in Wicked!!

Posted by on 22 June 2009

Ok, for all the Adam Lambert fans out there that know he was in Wicked at the Pantages, I just realized that when I saw the wonderful show in 2007, ADAM WAS PERFORMING!!! He wasn’t Fiyero that night, but he was in the chorus! When I first heard that Adam was in Wicked, I didn’t think he was in the show that I saw at first, but then I looked at the Playbill and HIS NAME WAS THERE!!!! So, I don’t remember seeing him, but he was there and I did see him! :D Yes, I know he’s gay, but I think he’s cute. :D

BTW, if you live under a rock and don’t know who Adam is, he got 2nd place in American Idol and in my mind, upstaged KISS on the season finale. If you want to know more about Adam, go to his official website or buy the Rolling Stone issue with Adam on the cover. If you want to know more about Wicked, read my post.

Here are some pics of the Playbill and Adam in Wicked:

Health Insurance Companies Invest In Tobacco?!?

Posted by on 07 June 2009

We all know smoking and using tobacco is very bad for your body, right? Well it is. Now, imagine that your health insurance company is investing in tobacco companies. Yep, health insurance companies around the world are buying or have bought stocks in tobacco companies. So, they’re making money off of something that makes us sick? That’s pretty messed up if you ask me.

So, how did I come across this information? Well, my mom was looking on consumerist.com and found a post about this and said, “This would be great to put on your blog Melanie.” And I thought, “Yes, good idea mom, let’s do it!” Anyway, consumerist.com seems like a very legit site and it has a lot of interesting articles in it.

So, here is what your lung will look like after a life-time of smoking. Cool, huh? Not.

Rally to Jordan Raises Funds for Charity

Posted by on 02 May 2009

In case you didn’t know, half of my family is from Germany. Right now, my uncle and his friends are taking part in this fundraising rally where they fix up used cars and travel to Jordan. They have to stay in tents or cheap motels to sleep in and their cars have to be at least 20 years old! Along the way, they have certain tasks to complete such as distributing toys to an orphange.

The first one that makes it to Jordan gets a camel! The camel has to stay in Jordan, but the winners can visit it whenever they want. : )

Sounds fun, huh?
